Things you may or may not know about reservist

Author: adber | Files under General

To those who are wondering why I have not been updating lately. Well that is because I was serving my country AKA doing my In-Camp Training! I have a love-hate thingy with reservist.

Hate because I don’t know where I will be attached to and it usually disrupt my work flow. Are you able to relate to it? Going back to your office after 1 week or more of absence and you find loads of email in your Inbox. Suddenly, you don’t know where to start or what to do.

Paper work pile up

Love because I get to see my old camp mates again and we update each other and share stories that we have missed out in each other’s life. You get to know more new friends and maybe even a new buddy.

Each time I go back for my In-Camp training, I learn something new. Below are some of the stuff that you may or may not know about reservist.

  • You will gain more weight than lose during ICT. That is because you will always get ‘jio-ed’ to canteen break whenever you have time.
  • Guys are all horny bastards. You will hear them talking about boobs, sex and nightclubs anywhere anytime.
  • Reservist is just like any other social networking event. You go there and mingle, get to know new friends, update on other people’s life, learn new stuff, hear stories. And if you are lucky, you will be able to hitch a ride back home.
  • Wearing green makes you stupid. (Quoted from my camp mate, 3SG Ang)
  • Cookhouse food is only yummy on the first 2 days, after which you will get bored of the same old menu or cooking style.
  • Western food is the only food that can never go wrong at the cookhouse.
  • Army’s tax free beer taste like shit. (low grade)
  • The training program are never on time. Only out-process is on-time.
  • Gathering a group of NSmen together at a specific timing is just like coaxing little boys to get together.

So are you able to relate to any of the above? And what have you learnt during your In-Camp Training?

I think you almost have it all.

    don’t forget
    1. outfield - cookhouse food. rock hard when it reaches the field. combat rations - last thing to eat if no cookhouse or tabao from other places and dying from hunger

    2. ICT is the time when you can still see the sun when you go home as compared to your work.

    3. men in green = lechers + swearers - if you realise, once you put on the green uniform, you start to be very eloquent in cursing and swearing compare to any other time

    4. SOP - i am going for my 7 incamp soon. heard the training program, just one phase - As per normal. no matter how they change the names blah blah blah, it is still the same routine after all these years

    5. canteen food - taste good up till the 5 day then you will realise cook house not that bad also.

    so anymore to add?

    Wah lau… Everything there man.

    1) Wear helmet alway cannot think one.(I think its some kind of disease..)

    2) People alway curse and swear on the first day over hair.

    3) Cookhouse food must consume in cookhouse, if packed for out-ration then must comsume within first hr or else smells real er xin and somehow it hardens…And Big breakfast the best!

    4) U are damn right about the guy being horny part! If ict is 2 weeks, u will hear on the second week on how all girls look so gd on last book out.(all the beast being caged up)

    5) Dont ever start kiwi your boots, once start all follow. With the same kiwi and brush…

    6) Lastly, No.4 seems to be getting harder and harder to put on and button up every year.

btw, for combat rations, i have tried many types and the current one that we have sucks big time.

there are 8 types, i tried almost all 8 when i was in thailand for 3 weeks. man, only the desert and commercial pack items (the smaller pack) can be consume. for the rest of the rice and noodles (esp), it taste awful and like spoilt. trust me. try the curry mutton udon pack and you will know. just tear open it and u will throw it away…

A VERY WASTE OF THE TAX PAYERS MONEY!

Those idiots who invented the current packs must be sissy who never went through NS.

The best type i tasted is when they just started to change to the green packs. more than 10 years ago but thats the best. everytime i go back for ICT, standard get worse and worse. NOW, I rather have my sardine and bak tin cans + hard tack + chocolate then eat udon noodles. YUCK!
