Singapore’s annual inflation rate hit a 25-year high of 6.6 percent in January but we are not alone. The inflation at Zimbabwe is so bad that their official inflation rate was put at 165,000 percent!!
Currently, the exchange rate for 1 US is more than 10billion Zimbabwe dollar. So I never lie to you if I said you can be a billionaire overnight! Thats freaking incredible right! However, 1 bottle of milk there would cost you about 3 billion Zimbabwe dollar and a tray of 30 eggs is about 45 billion Zimbabwe dollar. A trip to the supermarket would easily cost you trillion of dollars! Can you imagine bringing around with you that amount of cash?
Now how about if you are buying some branded stuff like LV or Coach? It might cost 40.28756728317653 trillion dollars. You couldn’t carrying such a thick wade of cash with you right? You might think of writing a check however the highest amount you can write on a check is only 900 billion dollar (90 US). Gosh! Even after paying with your credit card, how do you know that you are billed correctly when you receive the receipt? There are so many digits! Although one could be a billionaire over at Zimbabwe, you have to be good at maths to really buy anything. And one last thing, I wouldn’t want to be working in the banking sector there. All that zeros can make one go insane…
